Cooking Instructions

1

Prepare the creamy topping:

In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp sour cream, 1 tbsp heavy cream, and 2 tbsp grated Parmesan until smooth. Set aside.

2

Assemble the sandwich:

Spread 1 tbsp mustard on one side of each bread slice. Layer 3 slices of ham on one slice, followed by 3 slices of cheese. Place the second slice of bread, mustard side down, on top to form a sandwich.

3

Add the topping:

Spread the sour cream mixture evenly over the top of the sandwich. Place the remaining 2 slices of cheese on top for extra gooeyness.

4

Bake:

Place the sandwich on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 7 minutes. Then, switch to the top grill (broiler) setting and bake for an additional 3 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

5

Fry the egg:

While the sandwich is baking, heat a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the egg sunny-side up (or to your preferred doneness) with a pinch of salt.

6

Assemble the Croque Madame:

Remove the sandwich from the oven and place the fried egg on top like a fancy hat! Serve immediately with a side salad or crispy fries for a perfect meal.

Chef's Note

• For a richer flavor, try Dijon mustard or a grainy mustard variety.

• Swap ham for turkey or prosciutto for a twist.

• Make it a Croque Monsieur by skipping the egg!
